Cyber Sequencer – Dub Turbo’s Big Brother

It’s not often you come across a DAW with professional quality features which is easy to use and priced so that anyone can afford it. And yet, Cyber Sequencer is exactly that—a professional standard sound editing tool which you can use on your home Mac or PC to write the next chart topping club hit.

Cyber Sequencer only costs $29.95. But never fear the old maxim “you get what you pay for.” In this case, what you get is far more than what you’d expect for just $29.95. This music sequencer can run offline or online, and both versions of the software include the same set of features. This isn’t your round of the mill cheap sequencer with one bar which loops forever. You get 16 tracks on the Main Panel alone. Each of these tracks has layers of complexity which you can access through the other Panels. You also aren’t going to get some lame recycled mp3 sounds included with the program. The thousands of sounds you’re given are all high quality, lossless .WAV files. You also will be able to export your finished beats and songs in the same high quality format.

The first screen you’ll be introduced to is the 16-track Main Panel. The program gives you full volume control and allows you to change instruments in and out of the tracks even after you’ve constructed your beats and melodies. You can run the panel either in loop or record mode, and set the bar count to whatever you want with just two clicks. A metronome which you can turn on and off gives you added convenience.

The other two screens you’ll be working with are the Drum Pad Expansion Panel and the Keyboard Expansion Panel. The Drum Pad Expansion Panel has 10 pads with 4/4 measures. As with the Main Panel, even if you’ve already put in your sequence, you can change out the drum kits at any point. The Keyboard Expansion Panel gives you 4 octaves of sound. You can either paint in notes on both panels or punch them in with your keys. Easy quantizing helps the notes stick to the right places in time with the beats, and making corrections is simple. You can switch the keyboard sounds out at any point too, and even though Cyber Sequencer provides you with thousands of high quality sounds, you can choose to import your own. There is literally an infinite selection of instruments at your fingertips.

In terms of ease of use, Cyber Sequencer offers a Quick Help screen which you can access whenever you get lost. The Quick Help screen is a convenient overlay of dialogue boxes which shows you what every feature in front of you does and how to use it. There are also tutorials which you can download to help you learn to navigate the program.

Cyber Sequencer is definitely a great option for anyone on a modest budget who wants the kind of functionality and usability you would expect in a sequencer at a much higher price. Read the full Cyber Sequencer Review.
